After his son, Mitchell, passed away due to complications from Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2013, Christopher decided to channel his grief into helping other families experiencing the challenge of receiving a Duchenne diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"core-block core-paragraph\">Christopher understood that he could play a significant role in other families\u2019 lives, providing practical support and guidance based on real-life experience. Through his public speaking, he and his team spread inspirational messages of hope and living a life of significance, whilst also raising awareness of Duchenne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"core-block core-paragraph\">In 2019, Mitchell\u2019s Journey won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ptcbio.com\/our-company\/grants-and-donations\/strive\/\">the PTC STRIVE Award<\/a> for the development of \u2018Hope Kits\u2019, packages containing a number of materials including a collection of photo essays on hope, a guided journal, and interviews with experts on coping with difficult emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"core-block core-paragraph\">We\u2019re inspired by Christopher and his work with Mitchell\u2019s Journey, showing families living with Duchenne that they CAN have hope, that they CAN live their lives to the fullest, and that support is available if they need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div  class=\"quote-block  color-theme--white\">\n\n\t\n\t<div class=\"quote-block__content\">\n\t\t<blockquote class=\"quote-block__text color-theme-border--white\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"quote-block__heading heading--4\">\n\t\t\t\tFounding Mitchell\u2019s Journey allows us to connect with families and provide hope by offering emotional and social support as they navigate through their Duchenne journey.\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"quote-block__author quote-block__author--name\">\n\t\t\t\tChristopher\t\t\t<\/cite>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Christopher helps families experiencing the challenge of receiving a Duchenne diagnosis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":16272,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[19,60],"tags":[],"media-type":[5],"therapeutic-area":[21],"class_list":["post-5547","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-rare-disease-community","category-rare-journeys"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.5 (Yoast SEO v27.5) -
