In the first quarter of 2023, PTC officially opened its affiliate office in Almaty and hired the first employees. \u00a0Today, we leverage a dedicated cross functional team to support our operations and to serve our rare disease patients in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"core-block core-paragraph\">The Republic of Kazakhstan is located in the central Asian part of Eastern Europe, also known as \u201cEurasia\u201d. It is a unique country with 19 million inhabitants. While Kazakhstan has roughly the same population as Romania, Chile or the U.S. state of New York, it is physically the ninth largest country in the world. Although some progress in the management of rare diseases has been made in Kazakhstan in the last decade, we do know that patients and care providers still face problems with access to diagnosis and treatment.
